Meanwhile, the island\u2019s Publix has been closed since the end of April for upgrades and will not reopen until next fall. Many locals, like longtime resident Brenda McAllister, are concerned about having fewer options. \u201cIt just seems unfortunate that the timing is such that it is that Winn-Dixie has to close,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to be without two stores for some period of time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
